The Engine & Engine Management System

The engine is a VXR Ecotec 2.0 Turbo Twin cam 16 valve from General Motors which produces 250hp as standard. This is the same power plant that is used in the Vauxhall Astra VXR and is renowned for its reliability and robustness.

This power plant can also be run on Bioethanol which has the benefit of being a green fuel but also it increases performance by approximately 10%.

CO2 Emissions for unleaded fuel are 221g/km and combined economy figures are 38mpg.

We can increase to the power output to 300hp in our SC300 model which will be available in 2009.

The engine management system is controlled by an Emerald ECU which has 2 settings programmed as standard. They are Standard and Sports Modes.

The Transmission

The transmission is a General Motors 6 speed manual box that is also used in the Vauxhal l Astra VXR and is renowned for it’s smooth gear changes and reliability tied into the VXR engine.
